Creating Idea Pins with Product Tags

Are you using Idea Pins yet to grow your online business?

Pinterest is currently favoring Idea Pins.  They have been for a while now, but it was uncertain what the real value was or what direction they were heading with them since you could never actually link or tag your products.  Times are changing and Idea Pins just got better! You can NOW add links to them, which will help drive traffic to your site.  If you haven't been creating Idea Pins, now is the time to make them a part of your online marketing plan.

Idea Pins are definitely at the forefront right now and I encourage you to jump in and start experimenting with them.

A few tips starting out: (PS You can find this and more on how to level up your Pinterest marketing strategy inside The Pinterest Workshop)

You can use up to 20 slides, but it's not necessary to do that many 5-10 should be  plenty!

Short Form Video is really strong right now, you can do a combination of both.  I suggest video as the first slide  (video can be more than one slide, but start with that.) But also, just experiment with different variations.  Starting out with a Static image is ok too.  Your audience may respond differently to different things.

You haven't been able to really link directly in the past (that's been the drawback) BUT you can now add product link through "stickers"  I'm not sure if everyone has this feature yet, so keep checking if you don't.  Also, keep creating Idea Pins, Pinterest rewards users who use their new features by giving them new features first in the future!

There isn't a spot to add your direct URL (like a normal pin) Use the product tag stickers instead. Use the sticker with a CTA in caption next to it.

Pinterest is prioritizing Idea Pins now, so try and do a minimum of one a week.  If you can do anywhere from 1-5, great!  You still can't schedule these out but here's a little Tip :) You CAN create them and save them as Drafts if you would like to batch your work and then you would just have to hit Publish when it's time, but the majority of the work would be ready!

Repurpose your content! Don't forget, this doesn't mean that you are having to create new content- just use content that you already have! And if you don't have a lot of video, static images are worth posting as well. You can reuse Reels and TikToks, but I suggest uploading them as it's own video (don't just upload your TikTok that has the TikTok logo on it)  Also, you're going to speak to your audience differently on Pinterest than TikTok. You can test this by adding different types of video, but I believe Pinterest is more of a Style Inspo kind of video etc, other than acting really silly. I could be wrong and things are always changing so again, test your own audience with different methods!

That leads me to my next tip!  The style of your Idea Pins.
